Many of the volunteer positions for the Easter Passion Play involve a large time commitment in preparation for the Passion Play itself. We ask that you take the time to read this information about the responsibilities and commitments involved before you volunteer.
The Main Cast for the Easter Passion Play includes roles such as Jesus, Peter, James, John, Mary Magdalene, and the Tour Guides. Main Cast members will have a large amount of lines to learn, and they are attached to a specific set of rotations. That means that if you sign up to be a Main Cast member, you will be going through the entirety of the Passion Play two or three times during the event. If you wish to be part of the Main Cast, you are required to audition with the Drama Director, and you can expect to attend regular rehearsals starting in January.
The Supporting Cast for the Easter Passion Play includes roles such as Pilate, Barabbas, and the Priests and Pharisees. Supporting Cast members usually have several lines they are required to learn, although some roles are predominately ad-lib based. Supporting Cast roles take place in two shifts, morning and afternoon, and are bound to a specific scene. If you wish to have a Supporting Cast role, you are required to audition with the Drama Director, and you will be asked to attend rehearsals starting in January.
Crowd Roles take place in both morning and afternoon shifts, and each role is bound to a specific scene. Crowd Roles are ad-lib based, if they have any lines at all. If you wish to have one of the Crowd Roles, they are available on a first come, first served basis. Crowd Roles are not required to attend most rehearsals, however your Scene Director will get in touch to determine when you will be asked to attend.
Support Staff for the Passion Play work in a primarily behind-the-scenes role, handling everything from setup and teardown to costuming and makeup to running the sound systems for each scene. The requirements for each Support Staff position vary greatly, so please check with your Scene Director or Coordinator for more information as to what your position involves.
